Ski Half Term

If you are looking for great family chalets for the half term ski holidays, in the best ski resorts, then an early enquiry is strongly recommended. Already the best family ski chalets, in great luxury ski resorts are being taken by the families in the know.

Although the ski half term demand is once again split over the two weeks depending on region and whether private or public schools, both the 12th February 2011 and 19th February 2011 half term ski weeks are likely to be sold out long before the end of the year.

Easter Ski

Its never too late to ski in the best luxury ski resorts, and even after the Easter ski weeks that have just passed, which had some of the best snow of the season, more snow is forecast this week at all levels with a north east wind bringing cold weather, broken by bouts of sunshine.

I am often asked what are the April conditions like and my reply is always 'great' if you are visiting one of the best high altitude luxury ski resorts such as Chamonix, Courchevel, Meribel, Tignes, Val d'Isere, Val Thorens, Verbier, or Zermatt.

Luxury Catered Chalets Chamonix

Chamonix is a fantastic luxury ski resort, and whilst the town itself is situated at 1,050m, its highest lift rises to 3,842m, and currently the Grands Montets at 3,275m boasts the highest snow depths across the world with 414cm at the top. On and off the piste, the skiing here is world class and Les Houches and La Tour the exception, both great for family skiing, the skiing does favour intermediates and expert skiers.

The town itself is a treasure trove of historical architecture, boutique shops, great bars, and what feels like limitless restaurants that range  from pizzerias through to one and two star Michelin star restaurants.

However the accommodation can vary somewhat. The good news is that typically the standard is high but you will need to look carefully and check website Galleries. One of the stand out properties is ski in ski out Chalet Prarion and recently the alleged chalet frequented by a famous golfer's wife over the New Year ski week.
