In the virtual world, we see and hear about many ski sites springing up from around the world and in reality you know that at best, 1% will be successful. So this week yo may be surprised that we have picked out a ski chalet company Chalet Ski who have launched at the London Ski Show. What makes them different, is firstly their presence at the show, and more importantly their domain name: www.chaletski.co.uk. It a little research and its plain to see that this site has significant search potential, and according to their Chief Executive, they have already had at least one 'mystery shopper / competitor' asking detailed questions about their strategy and objectives.
Positioned at 23 on Google UK searches, their chief executive was upbeat on their initial reaction 'the interest and reception at the ski show was phenomenal. And when you have established competitors showing an interest, you really know you are on the right lines'.
Its early days, but having seen the site, they probably are on the right lines, but lets just wait and see.

Ski New Year
Now is the time that people start to return from their summer holidays and look forward to the ski season and the New Year celebrations. For many this will mean skiing and celebrating New Years Eve at the same time! Demand for skiing NewYear is however always high and nearly always exceeds supply so don't be surprised if you leave it beyond September, that you may not get anything close to what you had hope, if anything at all. If you take our advise, start looking now, and be prepared to pay the premium as many operators raise prices by nearly 50% to capitalise on such high demand.

Easter Skiing
If you are thinking about an Easter ski holiday, a luxury ski resort is a must in our view as the high altitude nature of the ski resort ensures good now conditions whereas lesser resorts can suffer at the hands of the impending spring / summer.
This said, choose well, and the Easter skiing can be some of the best with long days, lots of sunshine, and in the following ski areas great snow:

Easter Ski
Its never too late to ski in the best luxury ski resorts, and even after the Easter ski weeks that have just passed, which had some of the best snow of the season, more snow is forecast this week at all levels with a north east wind bringing cold weather, broken by bouts of sunshine.
I am often asked what are the April conditions like and my reply is always 'great' if you are visiting one of the best high altitude luxury ski resorts such as Chamonix, Courchevel, Meribel, Tignes, Val d'Isere, Val Thorens, Verbier, or Zermatt.

Luxury Catered Chalets Chamonix
Chamonix is a fantastic luxury ski resort, and whilst the town itself is situated at 1,050m, its highest lift rises to 3,842m, and currently the Grands Montets at 3,275m boasts the highest snow depths across the world with 414cm at the top. On and off the piste, the skiing here is world class and Les Houches and La Tour the exception, both great for family skiing, the skiing does favour intermediates and expert skiers.
The town itself is a treasure trove of historical architecture, boutique shops, great bars, and what feels like limitless restaurants that range from pizzerias through to one and two star Michelin star restaurants.
However the accommodation can vary somewhat. The good news is that typically the standard is high but you will need to look carefully and check website Galleries. One of the stand out properties is ski in ski out Chalet Prarion and recently the alleged chalet frequented by a famous golfer's wife over the New Year ski week.

Luxury Catered Chalets Val d'Isere
For our very first Luxury Ski Resorts blog we thought we would focus on Val d'Isere and what makes it one of the best luxury ski resorts in Europe, its fantastic skiing and some of the best luxury catered chalets you will find!
Val d'Isere is located in the Espace Killy ski network at 1,850 metres above sea level. It is a town that has kept its chalet charm, whilst ensuring the town centre is vibrant, chic, and the place to be seen. Being the latter, it isn't cheap but then its locals and visitors might suggest that's a positive characteristic as it keeps the undesirables out!
On the slopes Val d'Isere and the Espace Killy are quite rightly world renown for being some of the best skiing in Europe and probably the world, and hence why when someone asks for the top 5 luxury ski resorts in Europe, its not just the chic party set that vote for Val d'Isere, but the hardcore ski enthusiasts too (particularly the well heeled clientele who also know how to have a good time).
But it isn't just the fantastic, extensive skiing, or the great restaurants, chic bars, and sophisticated nightlife that makes this one of the stand out luxury ski resorts, it is in our opinion Val d'Isere's luxury catered chalets! Here they are are a star or two above, nearly all built in traditional stone and wood, and inside a treasure trove of luxury and style. But don't just take our word for it, click on the link above and take a look yourself.
